A Happy Journey of Youth into an Era of Contention
by Mr. Tao Lin
About This Novel
In the second part of "Young Sachi's Journey", "The Age of Struggle", Sachi and his assassin friends are trying to assassinate thinkers from all over the era in order to extend their lives in the "Axial Age". The plot of the novel is both independent and forms a complete story circle with the first "Makino War". In 1854 AD, the Dutch conquered the Lanfang Republic on the island of Borneo. The First Chinese Republic, which was founded more than 100 years earlier than the United States of America, was wiped out by European colonists. The able-bodied men of the whole country chose to fight to the death and died heroically for their country. The last commander-in-chief, Liang Enbo, entrusted a group of children to an old man in the country, A Xingweng, and the merchant ship Paradise, asking them to bring the children back to China intact and preserve the last lineage of Lanfang Kingdom. Under the leadership of A Xingweng, the Paradise got rid of the vicious Dutch, sailed into the South China Sea, and headed north in a zigzag way. In order to appease the children on the ship who had lost their parents and their home country, Ashin decided to tell them about what he had seen and heard in his extraordinary three thousand years of life. The entire novel runs through ancient China and Greece in the Axial Age. Based on serious historical knowledge, it writes about a series of important historical aspects and daily life in historical eras such as China's Western Zhou Enfeoffment, Zhou Zhao Republic, King Ping's Eastward Movement, Royal Decline, Spring and Autumn States, Confucianism and Taoism, Greece's Homeric era and city-state era, the War of Thermopylae in Persia, and the death of Socrates. History and the future form an interesting closed loop, hoping to bring endless imaginative fun to young readers.
