About This Novel
In 1997, two police detectives, Chen Bing and Li Dongyuan, were sent to investigate a bizarre murder in Lampang, northern Thailand. During the investigation of the case, they felt that there was an invisible force behind the case, pushing them into a deeper puzzle. The truth gradually revealed a complex and difficult-to-look-at face. In 2012, the two reunited again after not seeing each other for a long time. Time has not taken away those memories, and unsolved mysteries and buried secrets have resurfaced, approaching their lives. The past is not over, but is becoming clearer before our eyes. The truth of the case and personal beliefs are intertwined with life and human nature, gradually peeling back their hearts. All entanglements and fate ultimately point to an unavoidable end point. "A rare criminal investigation novel, serious and profound!" In this serial murder case shrouded in religious overtones, every clue is gripping and progressive. It is strange and addictive, but it also reveals the undercurrents deep in human nature. The setting of the two protagonists is classic - one is the guardian of the truth who insists on idealism, and the other is a realist who is familiar with the dark rules of society. The two seemed incompatible, but they gradually understood and accepted each other during the collision of cases. It is a novel, but it seems to be more than just a novel. It is more like incorporating deep thinking about ideals and reality, good and evil and redemption into the tense narrative. Every page asks the reader: Are you sure you can accept the truth? Anyway, I'm at a loss for words and don't know how to evaluate this book. All I can say is that this is a unique reading experience!

This book is truly amazing! It's going to blow you away right from the beginning. The whole atmosphere is so depressing. Every detail seems to be hiding some secret. The more you read, the more you read. I can't help but wonder what the murderer wants to do? What makes me think the author is great is the creation of the characters of the two protagonists: one is obsessed with the truth and never sleeps. Idealistic to the point of being a bit paranoid; the other is realistic to the core and often likes to make excuses. The two of them worked together, not only to solve the case, but also to compete, and sparks flew every minute. But you will find that they actually need each other more than anyone else, and it makes you laugh and feel heartbroken while watching it. In short, this book is not a simple case solving, but a journey that makes you think about human nature while shouting excitement. Really, at the end, I just want to say: Do you dare to try it? Don't be shocked to tears by the truth.

"If you're a bit picky about crime novels, this book will probably stand out to you. It throws out a serial murder case with strong religious implications from the very beginning - with a sense of breathless suspense.

Xie Jiang, who was attracted by the title of the book, is also a Lampang policeman. This type of police is more capable than in China, because the cases they come into contact with are more complex, and the background is more elusive. The murder of a pregnant woman led to the introduction of this case, mixed with cult rituals, and the weird atmosphere makes people nervous and expectant. As the captain, Li Dongyuan feels that he is not as experienced as teammate Chen Bing, and he is also a bit smooth and sophisticated. This story involves a mysterious murder from the beginning, which also proves that the matter is not as simple as it seems. The story peels off the cocoons and goes deeper step by step. Highly recommended
