The Book of Songs
The Book of Songs contains 311 poems, also known as the Three Hundred Poems. Six of them are songs for the sheng, with titles but no surviving text, leaving 305 poems with both titles and verses. By the Warring States period, rites and music had fallen into disarray, and many musical scores were lost. Only the surviving lyrics were compiled into the Book of Songs. This edition has no annotations, so readers should bear that in mind.

The Hundred Family Surnames is a text about Chinese surnames. According to historical records, it was written in the early Northern Song dynasty. It originally listed 411 surnames, later expanded to 568, including 444 single-character surnames and 124 compound surnames.
