After Helping Spirits Get Social Security, the King of Hell Called the Police

My name is Chen Wen. I'm a temporary, unofficial employee of the Special Affairs Bureau, and my day-to-day job is signing demons and monsters up for social insurance and a housing fund.

On my first day, the Bureau issued me a starter kit: a stack of liability waivers, a bottle of heart medicine, and a copy of the Labor Law.

Other people hunt demons with talismans and cultivation skills. I hunt demons with a labor dispatch contract.

A hanging ghost wants to commit insurance fraud? Sign this ghost-hunting KPI contract, and I'll send you straight to the underworld for a 24/7 shift.

The Yellow Immortal wants to retire? I'll exploit a loophole for "operational violations" and send it off to fill a pit instead.

As I looked at the line of spirits stretching two hundred meters beyond the door, I had just picked up my thermos when Old Zhang the security guard rushed in.

"Chen Wen! Which idiot did you trick into signing this time? The King of Hell called the mayor's hotline, saying he's going to sue us for illegally employing ghost soldiers!"

I glanced down at the labor arbitration notice on my desk and quietly took out the official seal.

"What's there to panic about? It's called flexible employment."
