A Rose of Strength

"It is the time you spent on your rose that makes your rose so important."

To Zhang Xinxing, Song Xinyan was that rose.

Song Xinyan was the cherished young lady of the Song family, raised in the palm of their hands and the most dazzling figure in high society. Her parents doted on her and everyone else indulged her. She had every bit of a princess's entitlement, and her spoiled, willful nature was etched into her very bones.

To save her family's business from collapse, she had no choice but to marry Zhang Xinxing, the famously formidable figure of the business world. He was handsome and refined, but utterly clueless about romance, bad-tempered, and more than a decade older than her.

The man had no sense of fun at all. When she was so upset she could barely hold back tears, all he said was, coldly, "Song Xinyan, stop crying. I'm not your parents. I won't indulge you."

Song Xinyan's tears froze in her eyes. She swore to herself in anger: the day she finally made it, she would make Zhang Xinxing work like an ox for her.

Everyone in Jingcheng's upper circles knew that Zhang Xinxing was the foremost of the elite, born to stand at a height others could reach only by craning their necks. Cool and aloof by nature, he never lost his composure.

How could he possibly fall for a spoiled woman like Song Xinyan, who made a scene wherever she went? Even after she became the envied Mrs. Huo, it was nothing more than a title.

Every so often, rumors spread through their circle that she had fallen out of favor. Everyone was waiting to see her make a fool of herself.

Then, at an auction, an obscure painting was bid up to the astonishing price of one hundred million.

A reporter nervously asked its buyer, Zhang Xinxing, "Mr. Huo, why would you pay so much for a painting by an unknown artist?"
