A City in Harmony

The dazzling LED display at the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympics at the Bird's Nest captured the world's attention.

After that, LED technology ushered in the fourth global lighting revolution.

For a time, LED light shows became a symbol of a city's economic strength and openness to the world.

Now, LEDs have long since made their way into homes and every sector of society, growing into a trillion-yuan industry in China.

In the autumn of 2005, Liang Chengzhi, a PhD at the Institute of Microelectronics, was severely punished under internal disciplinary rules after an impulsive act.

He resigned and left for Shenzhen, plunging headfirst into the wave of China's LED industry revolution.

The road ahead was rough, with trouble both within and without, and stormy waves all around.

In the end, he and his team achieved remarkable success that drew worldwide attention, helping unlock China's trillion-yuan LED industry.
