Seventeen-year-old Jiang Yubai died suddenly, leaving behind only a black notebook filled with hopes and dreams. It recorded the journeys he had yet to take and held all the young boy's expectations for mountains, seas, and the simple joys of life.
Wen Zhiwan and Lu Shixu were the friends he left behind. Carrying the notebook, they set out on a long journey. They walked through old streets, climbed to the top to watch the sunset, traveled to the vast ocean, and wandered through the quiet little town of Qingchuan, fulfilling the departed boy's every wish one by one.
After seeing all the sights on their journey, the two returned to the high school bleachers that held memories of all three of them, and laid all their lingering regrets to rest. With nothing left to keep them in this world, they chose to honor the promise they had made in their youth.
Their families discovered the tragedy and took care of the arrangements. In the end, all three sets of ashes were buried together.
The boys had promised never to part. Crossing the boundary of life and death, they were finally reunited. And so a story of youth, longing, and regret came to an end.
