The Little Darling Can Speak to Beasts, and I'll Save This Fallen Marquis's Household

Pei Yuan was the impoverished Marquis of Jing'an's illegitimate daughter, born and raised at the family estate. The servants there bullied her for her low birth and mocked her as a strange, dim-witted girl. In truth, she had been able to speak with animals since birth, and knew every secret at the estate.

When turmoil suddenly erupted in the marquis's household, the legitimate eldest son, Pei Yan, was gravely injured and sent to the estate to hide and recover. The moment he arrived, his four-year-old half-sister exposed a plot to poison and assassinate him.

Pei Yuan: [The little mouse says someone's going to poison you.]

Pei Yan: Which uncle?

Pei Yuan: [There's something bad by your side.]

Pei Yan turned to his guard and asked, "Are you the bad thing?"

At first, he was deeply suspicious. Only after investigating did he realize, to his shock, that every word the little girl said was true.

Her eldest brother's legs were crippled, and he had given up on medicine. Thinking the marquis's household was so poor they could barely afford food, Pei Yuan enlisted the birds and beasts in the mountains to find herbs and treat him. Then she eavesdropped on secret conversations through the little mice who couldn't keep their mouths shut, helping her brothers uncover, layer by layer, the mastermind plotting to destroy their family.

On her first day back in the capital, she cured the Minister of Revenue's wife's cat, and the lady adopted her as a goddaughter. On the second day, she helped the chief counselor's hunting dog find its former owner, and he promised to protect her. On the third day, even a palace consort came to seek her help with her Persian cat.

The capital's powerful figures lined up to shower her with affection. Clutching the fluffy animals in her arms, Pei Yuan said in her babyish voice, "Don't rush. Let me deal with the people who hurt the marquis's household first."
