Sea Treasure

In 1993, Liu Xinling took over a seaside fish farm on the verge of bankruptcy and set out despite the criticism that "women can't manage businesses." Financial troubles, farming disasters, foreign seed-industry blockades, and storms in the markets and foreign trade came one after another. She and her team put down roots on the front lines, dedicated themselves to upgrading the marine aquaculture industry, and did everything they could to solve the challenge of independent innovation in marine breeding. After enduring countless failed experiments and breaking through barrier after barrier, she grew a small fish farm into a marine-industry model company listed on the Beijing Stock Exchange. Her resilience as a woman challenged conventional prejudice, while her dedication to industry laid a solid foundation for the blue economy. Liu Xinling's entrepreneurial journey was not only a personal turnaround, but also a snapshot of an era: it records the shift in marine aquaculture from crude, inefficient methods to technology-driven growth, from dependence on others for breeding stock to mastery of core technologies, and from a small local business to an international competitor. It bears witness to a great nation cultivating the seas and building its industries as it strides toward becoming a marine aquaculture powerhouse.
