On the first night of the Spirit Tide, Zhou Yan heard his younger sister knocking at the door.
But at the same time, he got a call from his sister, Zhou Yao.
“Brother, don’t open the door. I’m not home yet.”
From that night on, animals began to mutate, plants grew wildly, and inexplicable changes started appearing in humans too. Modern cities did not collapse overnight. Guns, hospitals, schools, and the military still maintained order, but the old world was slowly losing the rules it once followed.
Zhou Yan finally found his sister, only to realize that the mutated animals already beyond control seemed unwilling to attack her.
To find out what had happened to her, he went from a school in the safe zone to a laboratory, and from investigating forbidden zones to the front lines of the war between humanity and monsters.
But the closer he gets to the truth of the Spirit Tide, the more he has to face one question:
What if his sister isn’t sick? What if she’s simply turning into another kind of life?
