A Minor District Official in Chang'an During the Zhenguan Era

"I am Fan Zheng, the head of Dunhua Ward. I keep the keys to the ward gates and oversee the suppression of crime."

Fan Zheng, newly come of age, stood by the ward gate. He straightened his soft-footed futou cap and twirled a short jujube-wood baton in his hand. Two burly ward guards followed behind him.

He had a youthful face with regular features. He could hardly be called handsome, but he certainly wasn't ugly either.
