What happens when a programmer who loves games is reborn in 2002? Chen Hao has the answer.
[Getting Started] He heavily modded a Legend of Mir private server, bringing Tanwan Blue Moon into existence years ahead of schedule. With his first pot of gold, he founded a company.
[Finding His Footing] He built his business by publishing online games. MU, Ragnarok Online, Crazy Arcade, Legend of Mir 3: with a few tweaks, each one took the internet by storm and crushed its contemporaries.
[Growing Bigger and Stronger] Once he had the capital, he began developing games in-house: Three Kingdoms Online, Three Kingdoms Kill, Martial Arts Online, and World of Martial Arts. World of Warcraft was forced to retreat and hole up in a corner.
Chen Hao couldn't help but marvel: players these days really have it good.
[Scaling New Heights] Starting with games, he expanded into every corner of the internet. YY, Century Security Guard, Taoyoubao, Century Portal, investments, charity... all of it spoke to his ambition.
Shanda? Legend of Mir was no longer a legend.
NetEase? Boss Ding should stick to raising pigs.
Kingsoft? Lei Jun had already teamed up with me to make phones.
Tencent? Want to copy me? Go right ahead. Just don't expect to keep up with the pace I'm moving at.
[Looking Around, Sword in Hand, and Finding No Equal] Years later, above China's internet giants stood a colossus: S. It towered over the old and new BAT, looking down from the summit as a peerless force, a thorn in the side of internet giants abroad.
On February 22, 2002, a man who wanted to rule the internet was reborn. Internet tycoons everywhere suddenly felt listless, as though their fortune had been stolen.
(The End)
