In 2147 AD, a global geological disaster called "Yellow Spring" struck. The old civilization is almost gone - all satellites have crashed, power grids have been disrupted, databases have collapsed, and the global population has dropped sharply from 11 billion to less than 300 million. Seven years after the cataclysm, volcanic ash began to fall and the sky became blue. The survivors emerged from underground bunkers, mountain caves and northwest plateaus and began to rebuild. Food was extremely scarce, and people began to search for land that could be cultivated and for buried seeds.
This is where the story begins. A young genetics researcher walked out of the Changbai Mountain Seed Ark, carrying 30 kilograms of rice seed samples and a set of manually operated genetic detectors, heading towards the direction where "the water in the south is still on the surface" - where rice may still be grown in the remaining river valleys.
