The Cage!

This series is a gritty, dark crime drama set in modern urban and rural China, adapted from multiple real underground criminal cases. Cold, bloody, and realistic, it exposes the lawless gray zone at the ungoverned border between city and countryside. The male lead, Chen Jin, was abducted as a child and cut off from normal society from a young age. Passed from one criminal syndicate to another, he has been forced for years to take part in cross-border drug trafficking, telecom fraud, illegal money laundering, and other criminal activities. This hidden stronghold deep in the mountains is divided and jointly governed by **three independent criminal gangs**: a drug-trafficking gang, a telecom-fraud gang, and an underground cage-fighting gambling gang. Each has its own leader and role, and their interests are bound together in a vast, closed-loop criminal enterprise. Together, the three gangs abduct and imprison innocent victims and people from society's margins from all over the country. They hold more than a thousand victims in hundreds of sealed iron cages deep in the mountains, creating a merciless death match for gamblers.
