Lin Yu, a science-track student who barely made it into Jiang'an No. 3 High School, a key school in the southern province, struggles with academic insecurity until Su Xiao, a transfer student from the county town, becomes his deskmate. Through three years of endless problem sets and laps around the track, they support and save each other, enduring the pressure of their final year and the separation after the college entrance exam. During their university years, separated by three hundred kilometers, they each grow and continue to light the way for the other. There is no grand confession, just the longest and gentlest bond of their youth.
