The long historical novel "The Bloody Loyalty: Geng Gong" is the first work in the "Bloody Loyalty" series (six books in total). The novel takes the true deeds of the famous Eastern Han Dynasty general Geng Gong as the main line, and panoramically reproduces the heroic epic in which he led hundreds of lone troops to defend Shule City and resist the Huns' 20,000 cavalry. During the Yongping period of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Geng Gong, a young man from Maoling in Fufeng, determined to serve his country and joined the army in the Western Regions. He was appointed as the captain of Wuji School and stationed troops in Jinpucheng. King Zuo Luli of the Huns invaded south with 20,000 cavalry, and Geng Gong led hundreds of lone troops to retreat to Shule City. When the Xiongnu cut off the water in the stream, Geng Gong led his men to dig a well fifteen feet long, bowed to the well again, and the spring water gushed out. When the food was exhausted, he cooked the crossbow tendons and ate the leather. After holding on for many years, all the soldiers suffered casualties, leaving only twenty-six. When the reinforcements arrived, Fan Qiang crossed the Tianshan Mountains into the city at night in the snow. Geng Gong and others went out to the east at night and returned, fighting and marching. When they arrived at Yumen Pass, there were only thirteen people left, "their clothes and shoes were worn and withered." After returning to the court, Geng Gong received a reward, but was falsely accused of offending the powerful minister Ma Fang and was imprisoned. He was dismissed from office and returned home, where he died in depression. However, his spirit will never die: later generations built a temple in Gubeikou, and poets of all dynasties chanted it. Yue Fei's "Man Jiang Hong" absorbed his aspirations, and even contemporary archaeological discoveries such as the Shule ancient city ruins, Zhongyi Well, and five baht coins have confirmed Geng Gong's awe-inspiring righteousness of "not being ashamed of the Han Dynasty" and become an eternal symbol of the loyalty and courage of the Chinese nation.
