Story Synopsis
Five years ago, snow blanketed Beicheng. Shen Yanci held Wen Xunxue’s hand, the warmth of his palm so intense it brought her to tears. Back then, he was her young hero, and she was the moon in his heart. But a sudden business conspiracy drove the Wen family to ruin. To save Wen Xunxue’s life, Shen Yanci personally signed a breakup agreement, each word cutting her to the heart, and forced her to leave Beicheng.
He said, “Wen Xunxue, I never loved you.”
Snow fell into his palm and melted to water, like a scar that would never heal.
Five years later, Wen Xunxue returns to Beicheng as a jewelry designer. Her piece, Snow in the Palm, captivates the crowd. Its design statement, “Snow falling on our palm lines is the unfinished fate between us,” leaves Shen Yanci in the audience red-eyed.
Reunited, the two seem separated by a snowfall that will never end. He relentlessly pursues her, keeping her at his side through sheer force of will. He says, “It’s just for fun,” but stays by her bedside all night when she falls ill, unleashes his fury when others give her a hard time, and, whenever she tries to leave, says with reddened eyes, “Wen Xunxue, just try leaving again.”
Again and again, she pushes him away, carrying the hurt from five years ago and a heart full of resentment and unwillingness to let go. But when she sees the scar on his palm, she falls apart.
As the truth is gradually revealed and the conspiracy from years ago comes to light, Shen Yanci kneels in the snow and presses her hand to his palm. In a hoarse voice, he says, “Xunxue, I was wrong.” Only then does Wen Xunxue realize that what he has guarded for these five years was not hatred, but a love heavier than mountains and seas.
