Springtime Desires

Every day, the powerful families in the capital asked the same question: “Has Widow Wei remarried today?” He was a powerful minister of the court, a man who had killed countless people. Everyone said he had no interest in women. A peerless man, radiant as the bright moon. Little did they know that in the dead of night, he called her name in his dreams, pinning her beneath him, his breath hot and his restraint gone. “Yu'er, won’t you take a look at me?” Her husband died just three months after their wedding. In the eyes of the world, she became a widow who brought misfortune to her husband and family. There was no place for her at the Earl of Zhongqin’s residence. Her mother-in-law was cruel and spiteful, scheming every day to send her down to accompany her son in death. The servants fawned on those above them and kicked her when she was down. Her life was unbearably hard. Then he stood up for her and shielded her from it all. His tender, devoted gaze warmed her battered heart, never wavering. By chance, Wei Yulan saw the young heir, usually as pristine as a clear breeze beneath a bright moon, trembling as he called her name. His eyes bloodshot, he pinned her in place. “Yu'er, help me...” To hell with widowhood! I’m done with it! I’m going to marry a powerful minister and let them all regret it!
