The protagonist, Xia Hua, is an ordinary man from the future city of Yangzhou who accidentally transmigrates into the army of Wu Sangui in 1644. That year, the Ming dynasty fell and Wu Sangui surrendered to the Qing. The Manchus invaded the lands of the Han in force, then captured and massacred Yangzhou a year later. With no other choice, the protagonist fights with all his might through wars and bloodshed, driven by fervent determination: to avoid becoming a traitor to the Han, to stay alive, to save the eight hundred thousand people of Yangzhou, and to preserve Chinese civilization. In the end, he defeats the Qing, pacifies the realm, and restores the Han-Ming dynasty. He then leads Chinese civilization overseas, conquering and destroying Japan, competing for global supremacy against the rising Western powers, and expanding across the four oceans and five continents. He founds the Great Chinese Empire on which the sun never sets, raising China to the pinnacle of the world.
