Go West, Go West!

In 1954, the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps was established.

Li Jiangyu was ordered to lead his company in reclaiming wasteland and cultivating fields.

Before the old platoon leader died, he clutched a handful of Gobi Desert soil and said,

"This soil... can bury us... so it can surely... bury the seeds too..."

When every soldier in the company lit the first bonfire of their land reclamation,

Li Jiangyu buried his last bullet in the earth.

He knew that from now on, rifles would give way to the ketu man.

Only by standing firm here, taking root, opening fields, and building a city

could every inch of the land beneath their feet remain theirs!
