Rising Through the Ranks: From Township Technician to the Pinnacle of Power

Politics is a skill.

Some say it's a world of fame and fortune, and also a battlefield of deadly rivalries. It's all about tactics and reading people's hearts, scheming and deception. One wrong step can leave you beyond all hope of redemption.

Ye Chen!

A genius who spent six years stuck at the Daping Township Agricultural Technology Station.

In his previous life, he gave up a job in the county Party committee's Organization Department so he could stay in town, all because Han Lili said she “didn't want to live apart.” Instead, he stayed at the Daping Township Agricultural Technology Station as a technician.

But after offending Luo Dapeng, the township Party committee secretary, he was suppressed at every turn. After six years, he hadn't even managed to become a section-level official.

His girlfriend of eight years, Han Lili, went off and slept with someone else. When she failed to break off their engagement, she teamed up with her lover to frame him for attempted rape. He was imprisoned for three years, endured terrible hardship, and was left with a limp.

While he was in prison, Han Lili used despicable tricks to swindle his parents out of all their money, driving them to their deaths. She also handed over the research results he'd spent six years developing to Zhao Jian, giving Zhao Jian the means to rise to success.

Living his life over again, Ye Chen draws on his memories of the future to plan several moves ahead and stay one step ahead of everyone else. Starting out as secretary of the Daping Township Commission for Discipline Inspection, he cuts a path through every obstacle and marches forward until he reaches the pinnacle of power.
