Chen Yiqiu transmigrates to the Hongwu era of the Ming dynasty and inherits a small restaurant. A young lady named Zhu often visits the shop.
But instead of asking about women's needlework, Miss Zhu is interested in affairs of state and the people's welfare, and often asks about the art of governing a country.
"How do you think we should resolve this imperial examination scandal?"
It turns out that the not-so-clever Miss Zhu is a princess of the empire. She takes Chen Yiqiu's answers to Zhu Yuanzhang, Zhu Biao, and Zhu Di, showing off her newfound knowledge in front of them.
Soon, the whole Zhu family comes around.
"How do you think we can teach everyone in the empire arithmetic?"
"Who do you think would make a better heir, Zhu Di or Zhu Yunwen?"
If they weren't paying him so generously, Chen Yiqiu wouldn't bother answering.
One day, Zhu Yuanzhang, drunk and swaying, says, "Innkeeper, let's drop the act. I'm Zhu Yuanzhang. Marry my daughter and become the Ming dynasty's imperial son-in-law and national preceptor."
