My Master Is Always a Beat Behind

In recent years, my master, Yu Deshui, took me on as his one and only disciple. He then passed on to me his true secret for handling cases "like a fish in water." This remarkable skill helped us solve one sensational case after another across the city. Yu Deshui led a ragtag group, and with me included, we made a total of eight "immortals" in the police force. Each of these masters came up with all sorts of ways to gather evidence and solve difficult cases. Spending time with them taught me the meaning behind the secret skill of "being half a beat slow": work slowly and meticulously. Be slow to claim credit, but never hesitate when it comes to solving a case.
