Vast China has echoed with the roars of tigers and dragons and the cries of phoenixes since ancient times. Yet today, dragons and phoenixes have become mere totems, their beautiful legends tinged with sorrow. The great land of China remains, its mountains and rivers unchanged. Though we occasionally hear a tiger's roar, we can scarcely find a tiger. By the 1970s and 1980s, the largest and fiercest of them all, the Northeast tiger, had nearly vanished from China and was listed as endangered on the United Nations Red List. The fate of the Northeast leopard, also known as the panther, was even worse!
Without the roar of the tiger, a mountain loses its place at the top of the food chain, and its soul is gone!
What a misfortune and sorrow that would be for our descendants!
And so, in a mysterious, untamed wilderness at the northernmost and easternmost reaches of our country, a spirited all-female patrol team was born! These vast mountains, once stripped of life, as silent and barren as death, finally welcomed back the tigers and leopards thanks to the efforts of the women and their parents' and grandparents' generations. They preserved the totems for China's descendants, and the mountains finally regained their souls!
You look at the tiger once, and it has already looked at you a hundred times!
An all-female patrol team protecting tigers and leopards? The first of its kind in China, perhaps even the world! Hardship, heartache, bitterness, tears, and sweat, alongside youth, dedication, responsibility, and sacrifice: who can understand what it all means?
In the tiger-and-leopard wilderness, one glance is all it takes to fall in love!
I have read part of this novel written by the author. It is a very true reflection of the life of people in the forest farms in the northeastern mountain villages. The story is very touching and vivid. I hope the author will publish more works.
It's really good. I like this style of work. It shows various authentic events in real life in many aspects and levels. It has a very visual sense. It feels like the people and things happening around me are real!
It's well written and has a very country feel.
The protagonists and stories in this book are all based on prototypes. They are the first female field patrol team in my country.
