Complete Works of Du Fu

Du Fu was skilled at using many forms of classical poetry and developing them creatively. He pioneered the new yuefu poetic form, and his yuefu poems helped bring about the rise of the New Yuefu Movement in the mid-Tang period. His long poems in five- and seven-character lines blend poetry with history. They unfold through extensive narration while carefully building cycles and returns across the whole work, marking a high point in the art of Chinese poetry.
