The Continent of Aden is filled with magical elements, but to harness them and cast spells, one needs a medium: cards.
Cards fall into two broad categories. One is the official standard type: Diamond, Gold, Silver, and Copper cards. These ranks are determined by their power and the materials used to make them, and the cards can be recharged and used repeatedly.
The other category is miscellaneous cards, made through various other methods. The Nizi people, for instance, are known for crafting black cards. They require no materials: the elements are condensed through sheer mental power. The drawback, of course, is that each card can only be used once.
The protagonist, Weierjin, bears his family’s curse. Following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Weier Kuangfeng, he will rebuild the Kuangfeng Mercenary Corps and defy the curse of fate. With the help of four companions, he will uncover the secrets of the continent, seek out its lost history and the source of the curse, and ultimately become the Dark Card King.
