Folklore: From the Start, a Wedding, and the Bride Sheds Her Painted Skin

[Folk customs] [Eerie] [Sequences] [The Three Teachings and Nine Schools]

[In this chaotic age of the Five Turbidities, you open the door on your wedding night and see your “beautiful wife” shedding her painted skin. Your survival points increase by 5.]

Li Daoxuan looked at the peerlessly beautiful woman lifting her red bridal veil, then at the bright red candles and decorations all around him. He was speechless.

That’s right, Li Daoxuan had indeed transmigrated, and he had awakened a cheat.

The problem was that this was nothing like the so-called Age of the Five Turbidities described by the cheat.

Here, the townsfolk lived peaceful, prosperous lives, and he himself had always been law-abiding.

As a lucky fellow who had transmigrated straight into a wedding, Li Daoxuan had no other thoughts. All he wanted was to get into the bridal chamber as soon as possible.

This cheat must have been ill, and seriously so. It had actually described such a prosperous age as the Age of the Five Turbidities...

Synopsis Two:

Among the three hundred and sixty trades of the common world, every trade has its own top talent.

The streets and martial world, the Northern Horsemen beyond the passes, the rivers and mountains, the Huang market, the rise and decline of fortune... The Three Teachings and Nine Schools, the five elements and eight trades.

In this world, the upper, middle, and lower nine ranks were completely separate.

[Oil Seller] [Footman] [Thief] [Eerie Creature]...

[Streetwalker] [Performer] [Suona Player] [Night Watchman]...

[Shaman Piper] [Bathhouse Attendant] [Barber] [Matchmaker]...

A song from atop the high stage decides life and death. A barber shoulders his pole and roams the four corners of the land.

They say the upper nine ranks can become immortals and ancestors. They say the lower nine ranks make their living by cheating and swindling.

All I, Li Daoxuan, have is one ancestral butcher’s knife. I’ll carve my way from the lowest rank to the highest, and ask just one thing:

“Tell me, are the people of the upper nine ranks born to privilege?”
