The Night Emperor of Great Qian

Everyone in Kyoto said that the young master of the Great Qian tycoon Zhao family was the unluckiest man alive. He was no good at literature or martial arts, and despite his immense family fortune, the emperor had his eye on it. He had supposedly been summoned to the capital to become a prince consort, but in truth, he was merely a hostage... Only, the prince consort had been acting strangely lately. He opened a charity hall, but the people he took in were all prodigies of the age. He meant to draw every outstanding talent in the world into his net. He established a merchants’ guild, and countless strange new goods appeared one after another. He meant to gather all the wealth in the world into his hands. He raised an elite force that marched east across the sea and north against the barbarians, leaving foreign tribes trembling with fear and fleeing at the mere sight of them. The old servant who tended his horses wielded a simple saber and made every martial artist under heaven lower their gaze. The nine adopted children he raised were just as extraordinary: a White Lotus witch who would plunge the world into chaos, a man determined to become the greatest martial sage alive, a battlefield god of slaughter who could take on a thousand troops alone, a peerless sword immortal reborn into this life... After lying low in the capital for ten years, more and more people came to call him The Night Emperor!
