The Breeze Ripples Across the Lake

[A love letter spanning an ordinary person's life, a story of parental love in the water towns of northern Jiangsu]

In 1988, Yang Lingyu was assigned to teach in a water town in northern Jiangsu. Unwilling to spend her whole life by the lake, all she wants is to return to Jinling.

New to the area, Yang Lingyu receives a great deal of help from Qin Yukun, but mistakes this highly educated man for an ordinary electrician.

Though he seems out of step with the times and struggles to express his feelings, the man persistently writes her letter after letter.

Through their correspondence, she gradually discovers his talent, as well as his simple yet steadfast ideals.

From misunderstanding to love, from exchanging letters to the daily grind, from youthful innocence to becoming parents, they are repeatedly brought to crossroads by floods, illness, and the tides of the times.

Over the long years, some leave and some stay; some move forward and some turn back.

The lake rises and falls year after year, and the town keeps changing.

In the depths of time, memories of love, responsibility, and choices will ultimately become the most important answers in an ordinary person's life.
