The Regent's Quest for Love

Zhao Lingyue, daughter of Zhao Zong, chancellor of the Lingxuan Kingdom, once saved the regent, Xuanyuan Bing, by chance when she was a child. Though beautiful enough to topple a kingdom, she had to hide her looks for the sake of her elder sister. As a concubine-born daughter in the chancellor’s household, with a mother of low status, she was timid and suffered endless torment at the hands of the principal wife and her legitimate elder sister, Zhao Yanran. On the way back to her own courtyard, the heartbroken Zhao Lingyue was kidnapped by men sent by the principal wife and nearly violated. To preserve her chastity, she bit her tongue and took her own life. Then Zhao Lingyue, a 21st-century vice president at a multinational corporation who shared her name, transmigrated into her body to avenge her mother, turning the chancellor’s household upside down. The regent secretly helped her time and again. In the end, the two joined forces to thwart the Empress Dowager’s clan’s conspiracy and found their way to each other.
