After graduating from college, Yun Fang, like many people her age, chose to stay in Beijing and make a go of it. The monotonous routine of commuting between home and work every day left her feeling lonelier and more anxious than ever. So she made a bold decision: quit her job and return to her hometown! To her father, this was an unprecedented disgrace. After all, a successful child would never choose to return to a tiny county town at the bottom of the ladder! Faced with her family’s lack of understanding and the mockery of former classmates, Yun Fang fell into a serious crisis of self-doubt! Then one day, she ran into Gu Jinchen, a friend from her youth. With his and his grandmother’s help, Yun Fang regained her confidence and gradually found a new goal in life: becoming a bamboo weaver! She would bring her youth together with this intangible cultural heritage craft and make it bloom beautifully in the land that had raised her!
