A Long Road Ahead

Since China announced its strategic goals in September 2020 to reach peak carbon emissions by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060, how rural communities can explore low-carbon development and build a sustainable future has become a hot topic. Green, low-carbon rural development has become a powerful part of the drive to revitalize the countryside.

In 2023, in Yicheng City, set against the backdrop of the old revolutionary base area of Yimeng in Shandong, Lin Tao, a first secretary dispatched by the city, arrives in Gounan Village. He bears the mission of transforming the impoverished village and leading the way in green, low-carbon rural development. With burning passion and an unshakable resolve to succeed, he feels his way forward through setbacks and gains experience through practice. In two years, he writes a green song of rural revitalization.
