The Sound System Failed Mid-Song? My A Cappella Performance of The Orchid Pavilion Preface Stunned China

[Showbiz + patriotism + traditional Chinese style + folk music + defending the nation's borders]

Five years ago, because of Jiang Rou's words, “I want to be a singer,” Chen Chuan gave up his place among the top singers and moved behind the scenes.

Five years later, Jiang Rou gets a coveted offer from Silver City Records, the dominant force in the music industry, and kicks Chen Chuan, now dismissed as a spent force, to the curb.

Chen Chuan: “I'm a spent force?”

At the Dragon Nation Style Festival, Chen Chuan sings “Preface to the Orchid Pavilion” unaccompanied, stunning the entire audience;

In a little tavern, Chen Chuan proves with “Chengdu” that local folk music is every bit as good as anyone else's;

At a singing competition, as singers from the Eagle Nation, Japan, and Korea gang up on him, Yehenala Yingzi stands alone to defend the nation, while the King and Queen of Song tuck tail and hide. Only Chen Chuan boldly enters the contest, using “Nocturne” to shatter the worship of foreign things!

So tell me, is Chen Chuan really a spent force?
