The Yin-Yang Inn

As the name suggests, the Yin-Yang Inn is a go-between for the living and the dead. In truth, it’s a matchmaking agency for ghost marriages. Many people in the countryside still believe in arranging marriages for the dead, so this is where buyers and sellers make their deals. The inn is just a front to conceal what’s really going on. The character for “exam” is written backward on the sign, so anyone in the know will recognize the place. It usually opens at night. If a male corpse needs to be matched with a female corpse, a white lantern is hung; if a female corpse needs to be matched with a male corpse, a black lantern is hung. White represents male corpses, and black represents female corpses. When the authorities are cracking down and business is suspended, a red lantern is hung. I’ve written here about my experiences in the corpse-stealing trade. Good and evil are always repaid in the end, so I urge you not to do evil.
