The Taboos of Paper Effigies

My maternal grandfather's family makes paper effigies. When someone dies, they make paper houses, cars, oxen, horses, and sedan chairs. In short, theirs is a business tied to funerals. But one summer when I was a child, something strange happened at my grandfather's house. I saw things I should never have seen, including the eerie girl who would haunt me for the rest of my life. After that, I didn't dare go back to my grandfather's house. But I never imagined that one day I'd have to return and inherit this eerie line of work, because if I don't go back, I'll die within three years.
