The Mountain Moon Knows Nothing of the Heart's Secrets

My grandmother was in a car accident on her way to rehabilitation, and her life hung by a thread. But my boyfriend, who was supposed to take her there, had abandoned her and gone to his childhood sweetheart’s home to rekindle their old flame. They were wrapped up in each other. As my grandmother’s condition worsened and her life was in danger, the money in her bank account disappeared without a trace. I called him, sobbing as I asked where the money had gone. His voice was cold, edged with scorn. “Yuanman, Grandma’s old. There’s no point spending so much money on her.” “Life and death are up to fate. Money can’t save people from dying, so what’s the point?” The next second after he hung up, my grandmother died right in front of me because she couldn’t afford treatment. Later, I finally found the person who had hit and killed my grandmother, but my boyfriend, a lawyer, took on his childhood sweetheart’s defense and argued that she was innocent. “Yuanman, your grandmother’s dead. She was old. It was bound to happen sooner or later.” “But Sui Sui’s life is only just beginning!” Heartbroken and disillusioned, I left for good. But after I was truly gone, he regretted it and begged me to come back like a madman.
