Powering a Great Nation

This work was selected for the China Writers Association's 2024 Key Works Support Program for Online Literature, as one of four works in the “Chinese-Style Modernization” theme. China's electricity industry has gone from lagging behind Europe and the United States to becoming the world's largest, now accounting for more than 33% of global electricity generation and far outpacing second-place America. Its decades of remarkable progress have been forged through the hard work and dedication of generations of power workers and companies. Based on the real development of China's electricity industry, this novel portrays a sector essential to every aspect of daily life, industrial development, and national security. China's power industry has long led the world, with many achievements ranked number one: the world's largest electricity generation, the greatest renewable energy generation, the leading ultra-high-voltage transmission technology, the largest power grid and highest technical standards, and the greatest installed power generation capacity... The national power industry is also a great undertaking in service of the people. In 2015, China completed its electrification project in all areas without electricity, becoming the first country to provide everyone with access to power. From deserts and wastelands to mountain villages, people can enjoy convenient, affordable electricity. Just two seconds of power generation can meet one Chinese person's electricity needs for a lifetime... Today, power workers and companies continue to strive and innovate, aiming to better serve the world's largest industrial nation and a vast economy; to achieve the “dual carbon” goals China announced at the United Nations General Assembly; to provide stronger support for national security and technological development; and to reach new heights for the long-term development of the world. Their efforts continue unabated!
