The Young Marshal's Wife Is Not to Be Messed With

In 1925, Fu Jingzhi kneels before the family shrine for three days and nights to run away with Li Munan.

Her family disowns her. Li Munan holds her close and says, "Jingzhi, you still have me. I'll never let you down. In this life, we'll share a bed in life and a grave in death."

In 1933, Fu Jingzhi is released from prison and kneels before her mother's grave, knocking her head heavily against the ground.

Her heart is dead. Li Munan has become a rising power in the government, surrounded by wealth. He gives her a divorce letter: In this life, we have nothing more to do with each other.

Overnight, Fu Jingzhi is reborn.

It is now 1926, and she has mistakenly entered Shangguan Rui's carriage.

The future young marshal, who will one day wield immense power, kill his father and brother, and seize the throne, is still a callow youth. He dreams of greatness but is mired in the mud, spending his days in debauchery, cockfighting, and dog racing as he lies low and bides his time.

He gives her the most exquisite diamonds and tells her, "This is what you're worth."

He guides her hands as she learns to shoot, telling her, "A true shot never misses. You must root them out completely, and you have to do it yourself. Otherwise, none of it means anything."

Yet when the marshal scrutinizes him, he merely raises an eyebrow and says without a care, "I'd marry anyone but a woman with no family standing like her. She's not worthy."

By 1929, everyone in Yongcheng is saying that Young Marshal Shangguan is willing to deploy troops and use force for a woman. There isn't a hint of scandal. She has all his love and is the luckiest woman in the world.

But no one knows that late at night, Young Marshal Shangguan doesn't even dare to touch her bed.

That night, Fu Jingzhi points a gun at Young Marshal Shangguan's forehead. They both know that if he comes one step closer, she'll really shoot, even though everything she knows was taught to her by him.

A Republican-era romance, a story of growth, with both sweet and heartbreaking moments, and a happy ending.
