The Minister's Wife

Every male member of the Yang family was executed, but Yang Lingyu escaped that fate by being sent to the Imperial Music Academy. Now they meet again. He is the exalted emperor, while she is the wife of a prefect, a former courtesan who rose to power through her seductive charms. As the wife of one of his officials, she uses every trick in her repertoire to climb into his bed, far from prying eyes. The mockery in his eyes is impossible to miss. “You’re a fallen woman. Don’t crave what you have no right to.” But in the end, he cuts off her every escape route and holds their two children in his arms, smiling. “Why leave? Haven’t I treated you well?” (A beautiful, ambitious official’s wife vs. a heartless emperor)
