The Defiant Mortal

Against the Heavens: An Ordinary Man is an original work. Set against a backdrop of transmigration and rebirth, it explores love and hatred spanning two lifetimes in an imaginative, humorously told story. It follows a young man who returns to his hometown as promised to marry the woman he loves. After a rear-end collision caused by fatigued driving, a wisp of the deceased man’s consciousness escapes the clutches of the Black and White Impermanence and, driven by lingering resentment, transmigrates through time and space. A new life begins. When it opens its eyes again, it is stunned to find a gigantic tiger lying not far away. The tiger looks at it, but doesn’t eat it. Why? Once it learns the truth, it falls silent... And so begins an unconventional story of rebirth... (This story is entirely fictional and has no connection to history.)
