The Gate of Wonders

Cheng Tianle lives up to his name. Past twenty and with nothing to show for it, he still spends every day grinning like he hasn't a care in the world.

He wanders to Suzhou, where he mooches off others and finds a place to stay. By sheer chance, he somehow inherits a cultivation art for demons. By the time he comes to his senses, it is as if a door to a wondrous world has swung open before him.

It turns out that all sorts of demons live right beside us, in our everyday lives and on every street. They look no different from ordinary people, and no ordinary person can tell them apart. Your company boss, for instance, might be a demon beast in disguise, while the fashionable woman you pass on the street might be the legendary fox spirit.

Only after experiencing the world's dangers does he understand that demons cultivate differently from humans, and their methods cannot be practiced carelessly. Cheng Tianle also begins to wonder why these demons mingle with humanity and live among us. In fact, demons and spirits have always existed in the human world, from ancient times to the present. Their behavior stems from the way people act: whatever kinds of people exist in the world, so too will there be strange beings like them.
