Ruthless Possession

The year Gu Yanfei topped the Forbes list of the world's richest people.

Rumor had it that the newly crowned richest man would give an interview to a top magazine with his wife.

People were curious about Mrs. Gu, the woman Mr. Gu had married even at the cost of giving up his status as the heir to a wealthy family.

But this time, as always, the low-key Mrs. Gu did not disappoint the gossip-loving public.

Her motto was simple: the woman behind every successful man never steps into the spotlight.

To make Mrs. Gu feel more involved, the magazine arranged a little test of how well the couple knew each other.

The host held the script with Mrs. Gu's answers and asked Mr. Gu:

Where did you and your wife first meet, and what was special about it?

Mr. Gu: I can't reveal the location, but it was love at first sight.

Mrs. Gu: A club. He was just after my looks.

How would you sum up your marriage now?

Mr. Gu: I got what I wanted.

Mrs. Gu: We're just muddling along.

What do you see in the future of your married life?

Mr. Gu: Growing old together.

Mrs. Gu: (Silence)

Host: Has Mrs. Gu given Mr. Gu an open ending?

The whole room erupted.

Mr. Gu was the youngest and richest man in the world, after all.

Mrs. Gu's silence was truly deafening.

Mr. Gu seemed to have already guessed her answer and didn't mind. He smiled fondly at the person behind the camera.

After all that trouble to win his wife, he could only spoil her.
