Fu Chi had been secretly in love with Shen Hui for five years. He asked her, "I've got plenty of brothers around me. Want me to set you up with a boyfriend?"

Cheng Zhiyu leaned lazily against the car, watching Fu Chi with an almost-smile. "I've been at the tire factory lately. Call me if you need anything."

Fu Chi glanced at the car behind him and asked, bewildered, "What are you doing at a tire factory?"

Cheng Zhiyu parted his thin lips, leaned toward her, and said slowly, "Being your spare tire."

Later, she cornered him in the car and asked through red-rimmed eyes, "Why?"

He calmly arranged for the woman at his side to leave, then said in an unhurried voice, "I'm tired of everything else. Can't I try something simple for a change? You should know perfectly well that we're not right for each other. We never were."
