The elders in Miao Village say there's always been something strange about me.

The day I was born, wandering spirits roamed the village, a hundred kinds of gu crawled through the night, and one bizarre omen after another appeared.

Instead of being alarmed, the High Priest laughed and ran around shouting, "The Gu God has not forsaken us! The new Guardian of the Coffin has been born!!"

"Heaven bless our Miao Gu village!"

Ever since I was little, I could see a black coffin door, almost but not quite open. Terrifying, sinister voices often came from within.

The High Priest would always take my hand, curl it into a claw, and tap four times on the door, as if performing some strange ritual.

I knocked on that door for ten years.

Then one day, a long, pale arm shot through the crack and dragged me into the underworld…
