The Azure Robe

In the fifteenth year of the Dexuan era, a young man in blue rode a white deer across the snowy plains, slaughtered five hundred armored soldiers, and vanished without a trace.

At the same time, hundreds of people in hemp robes stormed the city lord’s manor, forced the city lord to his death, and shared out his flesh to eat.

When the news reached the emperor, he flew into a rage and vowed to leave a million corpses in his wake.

But then one hundred thousand scholars knelt outside the city gates, while officials carried a coffin into the imperial court.

The people cried out, “What crime have those in hemp robes committed?”

Not long afterward, a sudden upheaval in the forbidden lands shocked the entire continent, stirring every great sacred ground.

Those who stood atop the mountain peaks grew uneasy.

Was this a conspiracy? The continent was caught in a gathering storm. Who had turned it into a chessboard, with all the people of the world as pieces?

The young man emerged from seclusion once more, and one prodigy after another rose to prominence. Was this a golden age or an age of chaos?

No one knew. They called the young man only the White Deer Boy.
