Ascending the Phoenix Tower

The outstanding eldest legitimate son of the Yue Duke’s household was ambushed on the Northern Plains battlefield. His fate and whereabouts were unknown, casting a shadow over the entire family and becoming a constant source of worry for them all. Xiahou Shu, troubled by talk of fate and destiny, had never seen her eldest brother’s brilliance for herself, but she was determined to uncover the truth about what happened back then. Yet everything seemed to veer onto a different course from the moment she went to burn incense at the Huguo Temple and met the man who loved purple. By chance, she saved him and used her favor to make him an offer: “Why don’t you repay me by marrying me?” He smiled and asked, “Do you mean it?” Many years later, when she and he climbed together to the high terrace called the Phoenix Tower and looked out over a thousand miles of mountains and rivers, with countless homes lit below, she finally understood. There truly was something inescapable called fate. Xiahou Shu: “Were you plotting to win me over from the very beginning?” Dugu Che: “You tell me.”
