On the Police Beat

[Crime Investigation + Suspense + Political Intrigue + Realism + Urban] Nie Ming studied criminal investigation and thought that after graduating from the police academy, he would be able to join the Criminal Investigation Brigade and make his mark. Reality, however, struck him hard. A placement order sent him to a rural police station, and the enormous disappointment nearly extinguished all his enthusiasm. But Nie Ming refused to lose heart. Why couldn’t the muddy roads of a rural township be the starting point for him to defy fate and change his life? From mediating what seemed like an ordinary dispute to detecting unusual clues behind it, Nie Ming gradually stepped into a far more complicated whirlpool than he had imagined. When the fog lifted, he discovered that he would have to face not only cunning criminals, but also unfathomable human nature and a game of strategy. How will he make his way back from the muddy country roads to the stage where he was meant to stand? Any resemblance between the cases in this book and real cases is purely coincidental.
