Pampering His Wife

After their marriage, her mother-in-law meddles in everything and competes with her for her son's affection, treating him as her personal property. Her husband, Zhou Jingshuo, blindly obeys his mother and takes her side, repeatedly dismissing Song Leru's grievances and berating and belittling her, using her up without a second thought. With her heart dead, Song Leru resolutely hands him the divorce papers and walks away for good. But Zhou Jingshuo delays at every turn and refuses to let her go. At her lowest point, she returns to work and unexpectedly meets Zhou Jingshuo's childhood friend, Jin Xingzhou. He's calculating and deep, with ruthless methods and a strikingly different side to him. In public, he praises Song Leru as clever, perceptive, gentle, and radiant, a woman who stands head and shoulders above the rest. In private, he tells Zhou Jingshuo that she's dull and boring and not considerate enough, sowing discord with every word. After Jin Xingzhou's carefully laid plans and persuasion, Zhou Jingshuo finally gives in and agrees to the divorce. The moment Song Leru is freed from six years of marriage in a cage and holds her divorce certificate, Jin Xingzhou drops to one knee before everyone and proposes to her. Song Leru is instantly stunned. Behind her, Zhou Jingshuo glares with bloodshot eyes, exploding in uncontrollable rage.
