Ruyi, a village woman, dug up the long-buried corpse of a woman in an ancient tomb. Her features looked lifelike, and her body had neither decayed nor rotted.

Ruyi thought she'd found some perverted old monster, but it turned out to be nothing more than a living corpse with meager spiritual power.

The living corpse called herself Baigu. Grateful for the half a steamed bun Ruyi had given her, she crawled out of the tomb on her own.

Baigu was lazy, greedy, and a pushover. She loved money and beautiful people, and all she wanted was to curl up in her cave abode and live a quiet life.

Baigu said, “I'll build a cave abode and become its king. Life couldn't be better.”

She took in sisters and kept male companions, but her little domain was just one tiny speck in the Three Thousand Worlds, and it could be overturned in an instant.

But Baigu had never been able to live as just Baigu. She was someone whose very name had been stolen from her.

With the arrival of Yan Yan, a mysterious little monster from the Demon Capital who was neither one thing nor another, her male companion and mount, the dull crane Xiyu, awakened his intelligence. The past slowly unfolded: cruel conflicts between factions, layers of schemes across the heavens, the human world, and the demon realm, and, of course, endless sweet moments in all sorts of novel forms...

Mother said, “I only wish you a carefree life.”

She would listen to her mother.
