Sinking into a Beijing Marriage

[Marriage first, love later + heroine’s growth + age gap + both sexually inexperienced] After three years of dating, her boyfriend lets the impoverished student he sponsors ruin the birthday banquet Xu An has spent ages planning, all to get back at her. When Xu An confronts him, Lu Qian merely tosses out a careless remark. “You’ll come back and beg me.” To save her company, Xu An returns to the Xu family, heartbroken, and agrees to an arranged marriage. She never imagined the man her family had chosen would be Lu Qian’s father. And she never expected the rumored low-profile head of the Lu family to be so stunning, with broad shoulders, a slim waist, and an aura of icy restraint. Before their marriage, Lu Yanli tells Xu An, “This is just a marriage of convenience. Don’t get the wrong idea.” Much later, Lu Yanli stands at the door looking aggrieved. “Honey, why won’t you let me into the bedroom?” Xu An sneers. “This is just a marriage of convenience. Don’t get the wrong idea.” Lu Yanli: “...” When Xu An sees Lu Qian again, she affectionately loops her arm through the man beside her and holds up a hand, her wedding ring flashing, right in front of Lu Qian’s livid face. “Be a good boy and call me Mom.”
